Box of gratitude

Since none of us are teaching in a classroom today, I thought I would feature an idea for families from No Time for Flashcards. I was thinking about the differentiation angle on this one and it occurred to me that it really is an accessible idea for all because every child and adult can participate. Adults and older children can write out ideas (or even short essays) to drop in the box and the little ones can drop in pictures from magazines or even small objects representing the things they love best.

This idea (or a version of it) could also be used in the classroom as a way to inspire writing, expression, and connection. Other ideas for classrooms include a suggestion box, a “caught you being considerate” box, a “favorite new words” box, or a “something I learned” box!

Happy Thanksgiving!
