Dem bones

In every book I have ever written, I advocate for strategies that get lessons “off the page” and allow students to show their learning without a pencil. This idea from the website Spell Outloud is not only a unique use of flashcards, but an adaptation of sorts for learners who cannot draw or label using pen and paper. In addition, since the materials are so large, this lesson is ideal for any learner with low vision.

If you are impressed with this lesson from homeschooling blogger, Maureen Spell, check out the rest of her activities on this topic. The entire post on skeletons is filled with different ideas for different types of learners. She features everything from magnetic board labeling to chicken bone exploration to visitations from a guest skeleton.
