Fun and games

This month my focus for the blog is differentiated products, so I have been having a lot of fun browsing sites for both teacher-created and student-created learning materials. Today’s find over at The MathSmith was one of my favorite finds for this topic because I love playing board games and I am a huge fan of using them in the classroom. Check out this post for tips on integrating board games into your math lessons. You will get ideas for managing the project (e.g., have students create questions as a separate assignment) and for enhancing the assessment (e.g., having students engage in a short reflection). Many different goals and targets (including social skills, communication skills, and literacy skills) can be integrated into this product and students can learn from both the creation of their games and from playing with classmates.
