FUN FRIDAY: Lovely lines

Today’s idea is from an art teacher but classroom teachers can use it too.

Students in Natalie’s smaART class made some lovely and unique artwork after learning about lines. Each student was first photographed pretending to blow a bubble. The photographs were glued to paper and the students were encouraged to create different types of lines coming from their mouths. This project gives students the flexibility not only to make whatever patterns and forms they choose, but also to create them in any style and with any tool (e.g. pencils, paints, markers, stamps, stencils, stickers). This project allows almost any learner to create a sophisticated product. A neat way to make this collaborative (for students needing a lot more support) would be to have students start their project but then exchange their drawings with peers and let various friends add strands, bubbles or lines.
