FUN FRIDAY: Swats o’ fun

As summer has turned to fall, you may be looking for uses for those classroom fly swatters. Well, Dr. Branstetter is here to help! Over at Notes from the School Psychologist, she is featuring rules for a game that (in her experience) is a real winner for students with ADHD and others needing a lot of movement throughout the day. The game can be used with any grade level. She talks about it as a math activity, but we are featuring some other ideas for answer boards so you can see just how versatile the game can be.

If you have students who simply cannot compete with others due to lack of knowledge, be sure to prep them for success with some pre-teaching. You can also offer alternatives to the swatter such as setting up a child’s communication device with the answer and seeing if one child can swat faster than another can access his switch!
