Ms. Durning over at Second Grade is Splendid has so many great ideas to share. One of my favorite ideas from her recent posts is her interactive water cycle bulletin board. In her classroom, students take turns placing evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection labels on the correct areas of the board.
They can practice the sequence on her handmade bracelets as well (great homework task). For students who would struggle with this exercise, consider adding language that would be easier to understand. For instance, under precipitation you might write “snow/rain/sleet”.
I love how her materials appeal to different types of learners and how she gets her lessons off the written page and into the hands of students.
Note: For a more comprehensive plan on making the water cycle bracelets, see this link from the Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom website.
