Deal up a good story

Here’s a fun new way for your students to learn storytelling basics. From the blog A Mom With A Lesson Plan, kid-created story cards are an engaging way for both those who can and those who cannot read to tell and listen to stories. Be sure to have options available for students who cannot easily draw and color on their own; these learners can use stamps, stickers, or magazine pictures to create their cards.

Keep in mind that you can target different goals for different students with this activity. Some children may be working on identifying settings or characters and others could be creating sophisticated story lines that later become written products.
