Let your fingers do the walking over to Education.com to view a neat history activity that is appropriate for students of all ages. This lesson provides opportunities for movement, choice, and creativity.
To try this activity in your classroom, have students trace their own feet to create “steps” to an historic event. Each paper foot they create represents an event leading up to an important time in history (e.g., American Revolution). Students can work independently or in pairs to select their event or their steps. They can add details and pictures to help them remember the content. Once the paths are constructed, create opportunities for learners to stomp, walk, or stroll through them repeatedly.
My favorite suggestion from this site is to have students make small footprints for minor events and larger ones for major events.
