FUN FRIDAY: Volcanoes in the classroom

Check out today’s project idea on one of my favorite new blogs: Dominoes, Diphthongs, and Dinosaurs. Here you will find a cool exploding volcano. It is not quite as elaborate as the one Peter made on that infamous Brady Bunch episode, but for first graders, it is simply perfect.

Keep in mind that not all learners need to do all parts of the project. Some might do more of the reading about the volcanoes while others create or follow a checklist of steps. Still another student might document the project with video or pictures.

If you don’t use it in the classroom, you might put this on a list of projects students can try at home over the summer– a good way to have fun while learning during June, July and August.
