Math pair-share for students of all ages

If you have ever been to one my workshops, you know that active learning is my favorite differentiation tool. I advocate for educators to try new techniques when possible simply because teachers using the widest range of collaborative structures, games, and activities are the most likely to meet the needs of all students week after week, month after month and year after year.

If you are looking to add to your own collection of tricks, try this simple but potentially very motivating math share idea from The Math Paige.

If some students will struggle to “compete” you can add accommodations such as calculators (esp. if these are the same accommodations used in testing) or cheat sheets or verbal hints/cues.
