We love visual supports here at Differentiation Daily, so we knew we had to feature Miss J at “Smiles, Crayons, and Endless Stories”. She shared an easy and effective way to help students who are having difficulty lining up. Simply give each student a number that corresponds with a number on the floor. Ask them to stand on their dot, which will show them how far to stand behind the person in front, and help to keep a straight line!
This visual is an simple way to help those students who do not like to be bumped or touched when waiting in line.
To use your visual, try calling out a few students numbers at a time to avoid collisions. You can even mix in a math review by calling for even numbers, odd numbers, or by skip counting.
