Teaching them to teach

Julie Reulbach at I Speak Math always has great lesson ideas galore and today’s post is no exception. Julie is blogging about her student video tutorials and I thought that featuring it would give me the perfect opportunity to illustrate how these types of video assignments help educators differentiate in two different ways. For starters, students get to choose from different materials, problems, and techniques in creating their videos. If you have students, for instance, who need to teach less complex or more complex problems or those who want to use humor or drama in their “presentations”, these choices can easily be made available. The second way these projects offer differentiation is by offering their student-viewers opportunities to learn from a wide variety of teachers and to engage in multiple viewings if necessary-genius!
